New Years Resolutions
Starting off 2024 with a bang...
2023 is gone, just like your fitness goals for this year. It is never too late to have a fresh restart as the new year approaches. The issue I see with people who are behind in their goals is the fact that they go all out and hard in the first couple months (or days) of the new year, burnout, and then never get back on track. This is the absolute worst way to achieve your fitness goals, even pros take months and months of prep before they compete and get that gold. As the new year dawns upon us, jump into 2024 while keeping these few things in mind:
1. Quality over quantity
What you eat, how you work out, what workouts you do, these are more important than how much, as that comes much later when you have perfected the foundation.
2. Baby steps
Start small, lower your food intake at every meal in terms of portion size, calorie counting can come later, start moving more, do not count your steps yet but keep a timer like 15-20-30 mins etc., the more the better.
3. Prioritize Wellness
Try to work on getting better sleep and quality sleep and rest, do not burn yourself out trying to go hard from day one, build good habits that will last long, this also includes staying hydrated.
4. Realistic goals
Set goals that matter to you in your life, whether its sports, being mobile, bodybuilding, or just having better health, your goals and the goals of the person in the gym next to you aren’t going to be the same, so focus on your self and go at your own pace
5. Balance
If you have a great diet and you do not go the gym, which does not mean you give up on the diet, and if your workouts are great but your diet is horrible, that does not mean you give up on working out. Create a balance where you incorporate both for the best and valuable results, rather than trying to juggle and giving up on one or the other.
I do hope and pray that this new year gets you closer to your goals and trust me when I say this, slow progress that lasts longer is much more efficient than quick progress that crashes as soon as it comes. Take it slow, take it easy, do not be too hard on yourself but have a higher standard and discipline for yourself.
This is a journey, and it is a lifestyle. It is a marathon, not a sprint.
Happy New year!
